HD-DVD: Failure
The studios have decided.
Blu-Ray has won the next gen DVD format war. The final nail in the coffin was Paramount’s decision to abandon HD-DVD in favor of Blu-Ray.
Meanwhile, I’m still more than happy with my regular, good ol’ fashioned standard DVD player. I don’t particularly look forward to having to replace my DVD collection, yet again, with new versions.

With a good up-converter you won’t have to replace any DVD’s. The PS3 for example does a wonderful job up-converting my old Mel Brooks collection into a psudo-1080p format. While the Blu-Ray (re-remastered) versions of these old movies _do_ look better, it’s not worth buying the movie again. However, the movies that are shot in HD format are killer. The new James Bond is a great film for HD. 300, however, looks grainy but it’s “on purpose.”

I think it’s only fair Sony win. They lost last time and so i think they should have a chance at winning.
