Freshen Up Your Stale Desktop Display with Desktoptopia

April 10th, 2008

If you’re a desktop wallpaper junkie and want to have the freshest looking desktop wallpaper on the planet, then check out Desktoptopia (available for Mac and Windows).

Desktopia will ‘push’ new desktop wallpapers to your display on various user set intervals. And the wallpapers are gorgeous. You can vote on the ones you like, pause (if you find a keeper), or cycle through forwards and backwards if you can’t make up your mind via a small menulet that installs on your menu bar.

By and large, the wallpapers pushed are excellent. Plus, if you find an artist’s wallpaper you enjoy, you can easily go and check out his or her website, also via the Desktopia menulet.Best of all, this little app is FREE. On the Mac, Desktoptopia is installed as a preference pane. Above is a snapshot taken of my desktop with a Desktoptopia wallpaper. Highly recommended.

P.S. the desktop images that are downloaded are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/Desktoptopia/.Backgrounds on the Mac.

P.P.S  Fixed the links to Desktoptopia.
