I installed vista Home Premium on my main work machine around mid March and I really really tried hard to like it. Unfortunatley it was just too frustrating. Files took forever to copy between drives, several of my applications simply would not run and everything I did on my machine (4400x2, 2GB Ram, 7800GTX) just seemed to be in slow motion. I went back to XP 2 days ago and was amazed at how fast and responsive everything was again.

Vista is pretty and I like the new version of Freecell. Other than that, XP seems to be better all the way around.

Vista...UGH....I had to purchase my wife's and daughter's system last week with Vista installed. So far the ONLY think I liked about Vista, was the fact that it automatically detected the network and set everything up automatically. I didn't have to search to find where MS hid the Network setup program. I can't stand the verification system they have....A pop-up for EVERY PROGRAM you run asking you if this is a real program and should I allow it. MS came out and said this was for 3rd Party Software that was not written with the proper security.....Well guess what company so far is the highest in number of that little pop-up....Yup...Microsoft....I've had to allow EACH AND EVERY Microsoft Software (other than Vista itself) to run....guess their security isn't as good as they thought it was......And yes I am one of those 150k+ folks who have signed that petition. I hope it gets MS's attention.

So here's a silly question: why not make this petition for real?

i ahd to do some serious legwork to get my XP laptop, and i'm sure glad I did, as all my buddies that got theirs a bit later can never really find much nice to say about Vista. My limited impression of it is that it tried to be far to helpful while really just annoying me, but I guess all that extra security is a good thing for Grandma, just not me.

Personally (and especially since I live in an MS world) i feel that the end of life for XP is too soon after Vista's release. I understand that eventually all Microsoft operating system users will have to move on but until Vista is more stable and all the driver issues are taken care of it makes no sense to force people to upgrade. Especially with so many people doing more business from home.
